"......In Canada I will be paying about $5.81 USD per gallon of gas, and here in Playa del Carmen I pay about $3.15 USD per gallon. My property tax is .25% (Yes, POINT 25 PERCENT!) of the city assessed value of my house sitting on two corner lots. I pay less than $200.00 USD per year in property taxes! Our gardener comes and makes our garden look like a small resort for only $25.00 USD per visit. Our maid, who is like part of the family, comes twice a week and helps keep our home perfect, for only $20.00 USD a visit. The produce truck will deliver water, watermelon, oranges, cantaloupe, and of course mangos, directly to our gate as he passes through the neighborhood; $10.00 pesos or $1.00 USD for a bag of fresh mangos!"
