Went fishing with Eddy and his crew in early Feb 2010. Great guys and great fishing! This is a fishing trip and not just a boat ride, you catch your bait for trolling and then go after the real fish! I caught a 4 foot Baracuda and a 25 pound DogToothed Snapper, we missed 2 other fish as well. Lots of fun, I recommend 2/boat, the price is cheap enough you can justify it. - Wayne gould

Are you looking for some serious fishing? If so, you are in the right place. EDY PENA and BALTA are the real deal. They are kind, courteous and professional. My wife and I went fishing with EDY in June of 08 and had a great experience. We have 27 years of experience fishing in Mexico, primarily in Cabo, and have never had a better crew. (This is absolutely true!)

Edy arranged for Balta to catch Sardines which we used to catch Yellowtail Snapper as bait for bigger fish. Boy did it work. In three hours of fishing we caught six Dorado of about 22-25 pounds each and one huge fish of about 60 pounds (66 inches). They use tournament quality gear with new line and excellent terminal tackle.

On another day we got skunked but nonetheless had a great experience with BALTA and HERRADO. They even fished an extra hour for no charge because they wanted us to catch some fish. (Not their fault. We elected to fish on a full moon and calm seas which is usually bad for fishing)

These guys LOVE to fish. They are wildly enthusiastic and are really interested in catching fish. They will work hard and do their very best to ensure that you will have a truly memorable day. (Also, they dont use inappropriate language or gestures as is so very common among other boats in Mexico. Even when speaking in Spanish they were polite and professional.) You cannot find a better boat anywhere. Whether you are a hard core fisherman like myself or a "newbie" this is the boat for you.

GOOD LUCK and GOOD FISHING! - Jeb Burton

My family and I just returned from our vacation in Mexico for 2 weeks. I have been vacationing in the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area fro many years now and have fished on quite a different boats in the area. I am writing this message about our experience with EDY fishing off Playa Del Carmen. It was very easy to book our trip as I brought my laptop from home and emailed SARAH back and forth to book 2 boats last minute with EDY and his crew. I made the simple small deposit and was told where to meet EDY on the beach. We arrived a little late, but EDY and his team was waiting for us and they were ready to go. My wife, my 12yr old daughter, my Father-in-law and I were lucky enough to get EDY and CHERRY on our boat. It was a little slow at first and I have to admit after seeing the other boat hook-up with a large MahiMahi I was not sure I got on the right boat. EDY rigged up a long line with many hooks and we started catching fish ( Spanish Mackerel, Trigger fish and Red Snapper). We then rigged up the outrigger and the down rigger for some more trolling. My daughter was getting anxious and wanted to head back because she was bored of waiting. So EDY said bring the lines in and just like that the downrigger snapped and on the line was a MahiMahi jumping out of the water. I fought the fish brought it to the boat and behind it was another MahiMahi, so EDY told me to leave the fish in the water and he put bait on another rod to try and catch the other one. It only a took a few minutes and EDY had the second one hooked up. My father-in law and I were both fighting these large MahiMahi together and what a Fight it was. We landed both fish and EDY, CHERRY and the rest of the boat was high fiving one another. I have to say we had lots of fun and EDY & CHERRY showed us a great time. Thanks again and Hope to fish with you again! If you decide to take a little fishing trip in Playa del Carmen Please look-up Fishing with EDY PENA you will not regret it!!! - Bill Flocco

My family just returned from a fabulous week in Playa Del Carmen! I am writing to offer my highest endorsement for Fishing with Edy, an activity we identified through your site.
We fished with Edy on March 5th and had an unbelievably positive experience.
My father, wife, and I took my two sons and nephew out for two hours of fishing and the action was fantastic! As an experienced fisherman myself it was clear to me that Edy really knows what he is doing. More importantly, however, was the way he made our entire family feel and in particular the way he handled the kids. Each kid was able to not only catch fish but to feel important and be the center of attention. Not all guides have the gift to be good with fish AND people...Edy certainly does.
I sincerely appreciate your site getting us in touch with him!
Thanks! - Brent L
